Great Question!
Well there’s a lot of different types of love, and I have experienced quite a few. There’s your first love where you think nothing but the best of that one special person and that you two were made for each other because of being so young an naive. There’s forbidden love where you want something you can’t ever really have even if it hurts knowing the truth. There’s platonic love where two people just care so much for each other, you want to be part of each others lives forever as friends. Then there’s actual true love and being in love.
For me, its when two people meet and instantly start to click. Everything about the two of you together just feels so right and there’s a natural chemistry between you two. And the more time you two spend together, the more of a longing for each other you desire. You two hate to be apart, but can tolerate some space every now and then. The thought of them, their eyes, their smile, their smell, the taste of their breath, instantly causes your heart to feel lifted and forces you to smile. When you miss them, you can feel it in your chest that something is missing in your life. Like they’re the missing piece to your own soul that completes you in a way that only they can. Its a feeling like no other that makes you feel completely human. Vulnerable, weak, yet strong at the same time. Not a day goes by without some slight thought of them or how they must be doing. When you’re in a crowd of other people, everything’s a blur except for that one other person you love. Its like their your one stroke of color in a sea of gray. Just being with them or talking to them makes you feel complete. Its a feeling tat makes you want to keep holding on because it makes you just feel so alive like you haven’t been already. And if it is truly love that someone feels, the only thing that they want or desire in life is for that other person to be happy. Even if you’re not the one to be there for them anymore. If you love someone deeply, their happiness should be enough.
Or at least that’s what I believe.
